The Laboratory, Materials and Renewable Energies (LMER), was approved in 2000 (ministerial decree N ° 88 of July 25, 2000) and was subsequently set up as a Research Unit for Materials and Renewable Energies (URMER) in 2004 (Ministerial Decree No. 21 of 1 March 2004) at the University of Tlemcen.

The activity around the unifying terms Materials and Renewable Energies at the University of Tlemcen dates back to the 80s.

The URMER is a multidisciplinary research entity, bringing together 183 quality researchers (physicists, chemists, mathematicians, electronics engineers, electricians, hydraulic engineers and energy engineers) including 14 professors, 15 class A lecture masters, 15 class B lecturers , 30 Maîtres Assistants and more than 100 doctoral students.
